When it comes to building a wedding album, I like to make sure I take in to account the couple, their tastes and the overall feel of their day.
It’s nice when I can take that creativity a step further in order to put a different spin on the album cover. After all it’s the first thing people see and it’s important it has impact.
Sometimes there is one image that sums up the day, or it’s passion and it’s often one that I will use when creating a cover of classic design like the one below.
At times the couple’s invitation is laid out as such that not only does it sum up the day, it’s also doubles as the perfect front for their keepsake book. Gareth & Debra’s invitation was one such case as the front was simple yet pretty and when expanded formatted perfectly to the books shape.
In Jon & Vicky’s case there was both the perfect photograph and a useable invitation so I adapted both and cut them together in a way that worked for their cover.
Tom & Sarah had a purple and vintage theme running throughout their entire day. Their heart shaped invitations trimmed with buttons were the base for the table decorations, card box, seating plan and table numbers so it seemed fitting then to extend the design to their album. I used their invite and photoshopped their names on to the front and then photographed scrunched up brown paper for the background. It was a simple concept and combination but worked perfectly to complete the style that had been consistent throughout everything else.
Going forward I’d like to incorporate more intricate designs to the cover of albums for couples who want them. I’m really keen to stitch a personalised design and scan it for use in the same way that I designed this order of service;
Perhaps even using a full textile collage to tell the couple’s story from the moment they met to the moment they married…
I’m looking forward to this years possibilities…
